Where to Propose in Seattle, Washington

So you’ve found the one! Congrats! You have the partner of your dreams, a ring, and a vacation planned to the evergreen city. Now all you need is the perfect proposal spot. Luckily for you, Seattle is overflowing with opportunities perfect for starting your life together. Pop the question at any of these romantic locations and you’ll be hearing wedding bells in your future.

On a Hot-Air Balloon

For the show-stopping engagement that you’ll be raving about for the rest of your life, take to the skies with a hot air balloon from Seattle Ballooning. You can depart on an early morning sunrise excursion or enjoy an evening sunset ride. The ride usually lasts around an hour and gives you an unbeatable view of Mt. Rainier, downtown Seattle, and the Puget Sound. What a wonderful way to start your life together!

Smith Tower

Seattle’s original skyscraper is still a sight to behold. A grandeur marble and golden lobby leads you to an elevator that brings you to the open-air observation deck on the roof of the building where you can enjoy panoramic views of Seattle. Even if it wasn’t for the grandeur feel, or the panoramic views, or the delicious food and cocktails, you should still consider the Smith Tower for the famed Wishing Chair on the 35th floor. This stunning chair was a gift from a Chinese Empress and is rumored to hold some magical properties. If you sit on the chair, it is believed that you’ll be married within the year. What a cute way to ask your partner to marry you!

Space Needle

If you’re proposing in Seattle, you have to consider the Space Needle. The iconic landmark that defines the Seattle skyline opened in 1962 for the World Fair and has been a symbol for the city ever since. The top of the Space Needle used to host a restaurant but was recently renovated into a stunning observation deck with glass floors. Pop the question with the skyline as your background and you’ll be sure to get some incredible pictures in the process.

Lake Union

For the adventurous couple looking for something a little non-traditional with a big payoff, take to Lake Union. You can rent a couple of paddleboards, a double kayak, or a sailboat to take to the waters. For something extra special, check out the offering of unique wooden boats from the Center for Wooden Boats. This proposal can be done at any time of the year, but the best weather is usually during the spring-fall on a sunny day.

Volunteer Park Conservatory

Take your partner on a sight-seeing tour of the city ending with the iconic Volunteer Park Conservatory. Bend the knee and ask the love of your life to marry you with the Victorian greenhouse as your backdrop. You can also pop the question inside, surrounded by greenery, but there is no photography allowed so you won’t be able to capture the moment.

Shafer Baillie Mansion Bed & Breakfast

Stay at the Shafer Baillie Mansion B&B during your visit to Seattle. This romantic mansion in Capitol Hill lets you explore the city with ease. Talk to your innkeepers and plan your perfect surprise engagement. You can give them the ring to deliver with your breakfast in the morning or kneel down and pop the question in your luxurious suites. You can return to your room time after time to celebrate your anniversary for decades to come.

Hire a photographer to follow you around for the afternoon and capture your proposal. Whether you pop the question with the Seattle skyline in your background, on a boat in Lake Union, or in the Smith Tower’s wishing chair, you’ll have a story you’ll want to tell time and time again.
